Charles O. Brewster letters and miscellany, 1830-1851.

Eleven letters from Brewster, written in San Francisco and Sacramento, to his father, Osmyn Brewster, in Boston, discussing his business ventures and personal wellbeing. The letters mention the Sacramento floods of 1830 and 1850, the San Francisco fires of 1837 and 1851, the 1851 earthquake, the real estate market, and business prospects for local merchants. Includes one letter (1855) to Brewster from Otis, apparently a business partner; a printed map of the burnt district of San Francisco (1851); two telegrams to Osmyn Brewster; and three envelopes.
